About

I’ve never liked talking about myself, but I guess I need some kind of intro to me and what I write about, so here goes:

My name (on the net) is Ookami. I’m currently living in Japan and studying Japanese. I’m not a native English speaker. If you are the kind of person who likes to label others, otaku is probably the category I would fit best in. Or geek, nerd etc.

So, what do I write about here? Well, up until now it has mostly been anime and figures. I’m hoping I can get myself to write some posts about manga in the near future as well. It’s also not unlikely that I’ll write about other stuff related to Japan and Japanese pop culture. I’m still not really sure what kind of style I’m going for, kind of trying to find my “voice” at the moment. I don’t really do reviews, mostly because I only write about things I like, so I would have a hard time being unbiased. Instead I’m mostly going to showcase things and write my thoughts without trying to be objective.

Why do I write? Actually, it’s mostly as a kind of experiment. I want to see if writing stuff down helps me organize my thoughts and memories, and if it can make me think a bit more deeply about my interests. It also works as general mental training, and a way of keeping my English skills at least somewhat intact as I learn Japanese.

have you sampled any of the “freezing” series yet? I’d like to get your thoughts on the show itself. I find that it is completely full of fanservice, which isn’t always bad, but a little over the top.

No, I haven’t tried Freezing yet. It kind of fell off my radar at the beginning of the season, but I have since heard mixed reviews about it, making me want to give it a spin and form my own opinon. I am however trying to follow seven series at the moment (thus me not writing as much as I probably should here^^;) meaning it’ll have to wait. I’ll see if I can pick it up during my upcoming spring break, or if there is any dead time before the spring season kicks into gear.
